Optimist

I am optimistic about the future despite the challenges we face collectively (global warming, socio-economic inequality, war, pollution). As humans we have many flaws (greed, jealousy), but we also have strengths (sympathy, intelligence, compassion). If we survive long enough, I fall on the side of us reaching something closer to a eutopia than a dystopia.

One of the keys to reaching a eutopia is education. Not just of practical knowledge but also of values. We must be cognizant of our flaws, aware of our emotions, and have the self-control necessary to prevent ourselves from acting negatively in response to negative emotions. I find Walden Two to be a fascinating read, and interesting model, in this context.
